Hardy's Dorset

Discover Dorset: A Pilgrimage of Heart & History

TOMA & COE launches a brand new tour. Breaking with tradition, we jumped across the English Channel. The setting for this pilgrimage retreat is the bucolic idyll of Thomas Hardy's Dorset. See for yourself why this part of the world captivated Hardy and continues to do so for so many people.
Dorset´s Jurassic Coast - UNESCO World Hertitage Site

Building on the success of our Mindfulness Pilgrimages in Spain with Erin Fleming and responding to the whims of our pilgrims who want to continue walking ancient routes, we have designed a week of purposeful travel, walking the paths of Thomas Hardy's Dorset with its dramatic landscape. Join us for an adventure into the heartlands of this beautiful English county.

Have you always wanted to see Dorset?

Are you a fan of Thomas Hardy & Broadchurch?

Do you want to walk ancient paths through rolling green hills that culminate in a 3 day pilgrimage to a setting of incalculable beauty?

Then…this tour is for you.

20th – 27th September, 2023

Basing ourselves in a wonderful Boutique Hotel in Bridport for the entire week, we will use a private motor coach to usher us back and forth, avoiding the tiresome practise of packing and unpacking. Walking will be combined with side visits and meditation and yoga with Erin before dinner. We will see charming market towns and villages and will dine out in local pubs and restaurants. It will be a week of discovery in one of the most beautiful parts of England and the world. UNESCO has declared the Jurassic Coastline a World Heritage Site and one of the walks will be following the famous Coastal Path that traverses this natural wonder.

About the tour

This tour goes straight to the heart of Dorset’s unquestionable appeal. The area abounds in history and natural beauty and we have designed this tour around our favourite walks, restaurants, pubs, villages, beaches and views. Dorset´s Jurassic Coast has gained UNESCO World Heritage Status and one of our walks will be following the world famous South Coastal Path that hugs the coastline along the dramatic cliffs that fall away into the English Channel.

There will be a focus on medatative walking with sessions from Erin both out in the fields and back our our country retreat which has a stunning ballroom perfect for Yoga. Once settled into the area and the local culture, we will begin an ancient pilgrimage that starts inland and follows a pilgrim’s path thorugh stone circles, past standing stones, along a ridgeway and out to Saint Catherine´s Chapel overlooking Chesil Beach. This destination alone is worthy of a trip.

We cannot wait to share with you the intimate and gentle secrets of this wonderful part of the world.
